Orientation is your official welcome to Ontario Tech University! Whether you’re joining us in the fall or winter term, Orientation helps you make a smooth transition into university life. You’ll connect with classmates, meet your professors, and learn about the programs and supports that will set you up for success.

Winter Orientation

Start your Ontario Tech journey with a warm winter welcome! Orientation is designed for all new undergraduate and graduate students starting classes in the Winter Term.

January - Winter Orientation

Winter Orientation 2026: Thursday, January 8

This one-day program is packed with opportunities to get connected, meet new friends, and discover the supports that will help you succeed at Ontario Tech University.

Here’s what to expect:

  • Faculty and program introductions to meet staff and peers.

  • Guided campus tours of the North Campus.

  • Learn how to make the most of your university experience.

  • Opportunities to connect with key student services and resources.

  • Social activities to meet fellow students and mentors.

  • Specialized session for International students.

Fall Orientation

Kick off your Ontario Tech experience over Labour Day weekend! Orientation is designed for all new undergraduate and graduate students starting classes in the Fall Term.

Throughout the weekend, you’ll take part in fun, interactive programming that will help you get familiar with campus life, connect with fellow students, and feel confident starting your first year at Ontario Tech University.

Here’s what to expect:

  • A variety of engaging social events and community activities.

  • Campus tours for students attending the North and Downtown campuses.

  • Faculty-specific sessions to meet your professors and classmates.

  • Opportunities to explore key student supports and services.

  • Residence move-in and welcome programming.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I register for my courses?

The Office of the Registrar offers a variety of supports to help you prepare for course registration — including webinars, registration guides, and step-by-step tutorials.

Visit the course registration resources linked above for detailed instructions, or contact the office directly with any registration questions.

Do I have to sign up in advance to attend Orientation?

Yes. Orientation registration details are sent directly to your personal email account about a month before your scheduled Orientation. Be sure to check both your inbox and junk mail folders.

Once you register, you’ll receive regular updates with event schedules, locations, and reminders leading up to Orientation.

Can parents or supporters attend?

Ontario Tech offers a variety of opportunities for parents, supporters, and families to visit and engage with our community throughout the year — including Experience Day, Open House, Ridgeback Ramp-Up, and Residence Move-In Day.

Fall and Winter Orientation days, however, are geared specifically toward students.

I’m an international student — where can I get more information and support?

Ontario Tech offers a range of supports for international students preparing to arrive and begin their studies. Connect with an International Student Advisor and explore the New Arrival Support Program (NASP) for personalized guidance.

Are there other supports to help me transition into university life?

Yes! Our Peer Mentorship Program connects new students with trained upper-year mentors who offer guidance, support, and community throughout your first year at Ontario Tech — and beyond.
